Stop large problems early
Regular hygiene care is really important for keeping your teeth healthy and your mouth healthy. And surprisingly enough, keeping your body healthy. There is definitely research that has linked periodontal health, which is the health of your teeth and bones, to heart health and diabetes health. I liken hygiene and taking care of your body just exactly like taking care of a car. I can have two identical cars that are brand new and sold off the lot. And one person goes and take care of their car. They wash it every week. They change all of the filters and all of that, and they vacuum it and they clean it, and they drive conservatively. And in 20 years, that car still looks brand new. We can do the same thing for our bodies. If we come in regularly and are taking care of our teeth and getting hygiene care on a regular basis, we can find problems when they’re little, and we can take care of them when they’re little. Being a hygienist for 20 years before I went back to dental school, we are very preventatively oriented here at Colorado Smiles. I would much rather have you take care of a problem when it’s little than for us to have to worry about taking care of a problem when it’s big. Options are limited at that point.
